Testimonials

My life was in shambles.  I had been drinking and doing drugs in the MD/DC area for several years from early teens to late twenties.  I had been to other treatment facilities before with no success.  At age 29 I decided that I would try it one last time before I turned 30.  I found Beachway Therapy Center online with a few references, and found it to seem more professional and organized then any others I have seen or been to.  On top of that, it's in Florida.  I said to myself that this was the place for me to recover from my drug and alcohol addiction.
Nervous as I was, I packed a few things, got on a plane and met the very welcoming arms of Stephen and Zana at the Ft. Lauderdale airport.  They made me feel very comfortable from the minute I met them to the time I got settled and continue, to this day, treat me as a part of their family. The entire staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and comforting.  I cannot stress enough how that alone had a big part in my recovery.  Rather than being just a number, or a patient, they actually treated me as family and remember my personal needs and situations.
The music and art therapy is exceptional.  I couldn't believe how every time we would do art, music, or meditation I would feel a hundred times better then before we started.  It would always help me get out of my own head and have a much better day.  In addition to these sessions, they also would take us to the  beach, the gym several times a week, bowling, and there would be a movie night at the studio for us to all enjoy together.  Salt water fishing had to have been my favorite activity though.
In addition to all this, the accommodations are great as well.  Its like an apartment with all the amenities.  They take you shopping once a week with your included food card, as well as haircuts, doctors appts, and more.  Being a chef, I loved the fact that we had a fully stocked kitchen, outdoor grill and they would usually accommodate requests within limits.
In conclusion, I could go on and on about how Beachway Therapy Center and it's employees helped lay a solid foundation for a life long journey of recovery and sobriety.  I thank them very much and will admit that I couldn't ever have done it without them.  Bottom line, Beachway saved my life.

I was trudging down the road of life destroying everything in my path when I came to a fork in the road which required me to make a decision.  The decision was either to get help or die and as easy of a choice as it may seem, I am an alcoholic and a drug addict so It took many years in the life to get me to see that I did indeed need help but the question was where?  I had previously tried a facility around my house in Chicago in the middle of winter and it did not work out so I knew it would be scary yet necessary to get away from the midwest.  I thought it would be nice to go to a warm climate so why not Florida? After speaking to a couple of different places I felt most comfortable with Beachway and in no time flat I was 1,000 miles from home with hope to find new life!

It was tough coming such a long way to treatment but Beachway made me feel welcome the moment I stepped off the plane.  I chose to come to Beachway mostly because of their small size and intimate atmosphere that was described to me and I was not let down.  I was very surprised at how nice our residence was and knew I had come to the right place.  The place we stayed in was clean, updated, and most importantly provided an excellent atmosphere for the recovery I was looking for.  I started to build relationships with the other clients I stayed with quickly due to the atmosphere provided and know I will forever hold a special place for them in my heart.  I have not met a nicer group of people than those who work at Beachway.  Everybody from the techs to the counselors have been outstanding both in and out of the "classroom" and I truly owe them my life.

The sessions at Beachway are great.  I had an to opportunity to learn so much about myself and my addictions through the diverse groups Beachway offers.  My favorite group probably was the psycho-drama classes but banging on some bongo drums wasn't to bad either!  The counselors ran a lot of the groups which really helped me build a relationship with them.  I had Matthew as my counselor and today I truly love the man for helping me in ways I can't put into words.  It is amazing to see how close I have grown with the staff at Beachway and I credit that to their idea of keeping the community down to a smaller size.

Beachway Therapy consists of a small group of people dedicated to helping addicts like me recover from this dreadful disease and I am eternally grateful.  I am enjoying life today without thoughts of drinking or using drugs and a few months back that would have seemed impossible and I owe it all to Beachway. My name is Mike and I am indeed an alcoholic and drug addict from Chicago who came down to Florida looking for a fresh start and thanks to the intimate setting of Beachway Therapy Center I have found it!

Overall I had an enjoyable experience with Beachway Therapy. I was given the opportunity to help me develop my life skills during and after treatment. The group therapy and one on one session with my therapist was beneficial to me and I got a lot out of it. I was able to develop a healthy relationship with my therapist and they gave me good feedback and guidance. The staff at Beachway has been through what I am experiencing and can relate to how I'm feeling about my addiction and my personal issues. It was nice to be in a small group atmosphere because I felt like I got enough attention from them and it also made me feel more comfortable. Group activities, art, music, meditation and fitness helped keep me occupied and stay positive. I was able to find more balance in my life. The staff is great and they are always here to support me. I had a great experience with Beachway and I would recommend them.

Beachway Therapy Center and its staff were excellent!!! I felt welcomed and relieved from the moment I arrived. I spent three short months at Beachway. I completed all three phases at Beachway. After six months on my own I am still sober, happy and moving forward with my life. The way of life I was taught at Beachway was just what I needed. I knew I was not headed in the right direction. My life was a mess and I was miserable. I am forever grateful to Matthew, the therapist and tech's at Beachway. I brought a ton of wreckage with me. I felt hopeless. They took the time to listen to me whenever I needed to be heard. More importantly they taught me about life and showed me how to live it. I would recommend Beachway Therapy Center to anyone who has a desire to get sober!!!

My husband spent 60 days with the wonderful Beachway Therapy Center Staff. I am forever grateful to everyone there. They always took the time to answer my questions. His therapist Meryl took time ever week to call me. She not only helped Travis, but she changed my life as well. Travis and I are moving forward not only in our lives, but in our relationship as well. For the first time in a long time we are a family. My children, his parents, Travis and I will never forget the staff at Beachway. We highly recommend this facility. Travis had gone to other programs in the past. None of them worked for him. The atmosphere at Beachway and the one on one care he got was just what he needed.
Thank you,

Beachway and everyone who works there is awesome. I have been home for 3 months now and my life just keeps getting better. Before I went to Beachway I had lost my job, the respect of my friends and family. Now I am working again and taking 2 classes at night. I have some amazing new friends in my life and my family is back in my life. Everyday isn't easy but I do it one day at a time. I still call Matthew from time to time to get advice. He is always there for me and takes the time to talk to me. All I can say is thank you.

For the last 30 days, my daughter, has been a patient at Beachway Therapy Center. I wanted to take the time to thank you and your staff for everything you have done for my Daughter.

I feel truly grateful for places such as yours, that care about the recovery of others. I want to tell you how much I appreciate Zanna. She is the first person I spoke to over the phone 30 days ago when things were very hectic and chaotic in my life and my daughter’s life. She was so very kind to us and I want you to know how important that is to a person making a life changing decision such as where to go for treatment. Once my daughter was there, Zanna answered all of my questions, phone calls, emails, and text messages with such compassion and professionalism that I will always be grateful.

I would also like to recognize her therapist for everything she did for my daughter. I have grown very fond of her also. She called me regularly to update me on her progress and listened to my concerns and was very supportive and loving to me as well as to my daughter. She pushed her and made her take a hard look at things, and for that I am so grateful.
As you can tell from my note, I am overflowing with gratitude today. Thank you for your wonderful place, and your wonderful staff.
May God bless you.

A Very Grateful Parent

Dear Steve:

I cannot thank you enough for being there for my daughter on Father’s Day 2010! For some reason when she went to Florida in January she was not ready to surrender to her addictions.

I do not know how she found you that day, everything has just rolled in together for me. But thank God, I had been in Al-Anon at the time, and tried to work my program, and wait until she was ready to work hers. Her phone went dead when she called me to help her. She wanted to come home crying, and desperation in her voice, I knew coming home would have put a band aid on her wounds.

Then, I heard your phone call and you rescued her. Not only that, but you brought her to detox, and got her into Beachway! That was the beginning of her true recovery.

Meryl was a great help to her, she feels she is a true friend, and other people there made a connection that she did not have. There were no more crying phone calls to come home, in fact she is still at a ½ way house at this time, but I am truly grateful for the Beachway for the encouragement, support, and love that she has felt there.

This is a nightmare for any parent to go through, and without Alanon, Icould not have stayed on my course and made some hard decisions I had to make to give her the freedom she needed to make the choices she needs to make.

Again, getting her OUT OF STATE was a #1 help I feel in her sobriety, and finding the right connection for her recovery.

I have tremendous gratitude for Beachway, thank you for all the hard work Love and Support for people struggling with addiction.
