 Liam knows what it takes to recover, because he continues to walk the journey of recovery.   For well more than a decade Liam has been clean and sober, his approach is simple, "No BS, this is your life, let's make the most of it".  His professional duties and history are staggering with over 20,000 hours of direct care experience, he is the epitome of people helping people:

Senior Addictions Counselor

Lead education and life skills groups.
Provide intakes and assessment services for Drug and Alcohol services under the direction of the program director.
Provide telephone and in-person crisis intervention
Provide individual recovery planning and counseling.
Provide referral services as appropriate.
Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding drug and alcohol issues.
Participate in program meetings and activities.
Maintain complete, accurate, and legible client records and other related documents according to established protocol and legal requirements.
Provide family education on addiction.
Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to supervising off campus field trips and over night twelve step events.

Chemical Dependency Technician

Admit interviewing including health/medical history, psychosocial history/assessments.
Monitoring of behavior and progress notes.
Monitoring daily living skills, program compliance, and interaction with peers.

  • Holding clients accountable for behaviour and progress
  • Administering medications, including controlled meds.
  • Monitoring clients to ensure they remain med compliant through accurate recording of med administration.
  • Educating staff to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Monitoring DOC clients up to DOC standards
  • Maintain contact with parole/probation services as well as case managers and social workers.
  • Monitoring clients for symptoms of intoxication and W/D.
  • PBT/UA/saliva testing.
  • Give input as to client progress at daily staffing.
  • Rounds as scheduled or more often.
  • DAANES.

Program Director

Liaison between the facility and community promoting community support.
Oversee daily operations of the facility and staff.
Writing of policy and procedure manuals.

  • Fund raising.
  • Presentations to funding sources and probation services heads throughout all 88 counties in Minnesota.
  • Maintain contact with the executive board of directors.
  • Advocate for clients in court.
  • Client screening to protect the community and to assess the clients willingness and determine if appropriate for program. 
  • Ensure that all HIPAA, privacy and professional boundaries are maintained through staff lectures and training.
  • Locate continuing education providers and schedule mandatory staff education meetings.

Resident Assistant

Observe and report to counseling staff any significant events pertaining to client behavior or med compliance.
Rounds.
Admit paperwork.

  • Monitor daily living skills and report rule violations.
  • Encourage clients to talk with counselor about concerns.
  • Giving clients encouragement/moral support while maintaining professional boundaries

 

Detox Technician

  • Most duties are previously listed with the exception of these:

Admit and discharge of clients
De-escalation/diffusion of volatile situations

  • Non-harmful take downs if necessary to prevent injury to client and staff.
  • Document and secure clients property and funds.
  • Monitor and record vitals
  • 15 minute checks when required.
  • Working close with law enforcement
  • Monitor for acute symptoms of withdrawal
