Alcohol Addiction Rehab

Alcohol rehab is the most powerful and effective way to break the cycle of alcohol dependence. These facilities begin at the root of the problem by figuring out what sparked the individual’s addiction problem and then provide healthy, realistic solutions for solving their problem. Alcohol rehab centers create an environment conducive to healing, both physically and psychologically, so that the alcoholic can learn how to overcome their addiction.
Dangers of Alcoholism
Alcoholism destroys your body, mind, family, career, and relationships in your life. It is a fatal disease. Prolonged alcoholism can lead to liver failure, kidney failure, heart disease, fetal alcohol syndrome, and obesity. Some alcoholics can develop psychological disorders. It also causes stress and heart ache to those who care for the alcoholic such as family members, spouses or friends. Other dangers of alcoholism include car accidents from driving under the influence (DUI), legal consequences such as fines, or jail time due to drunk driving, and engaging in any other risky behavior. If a person suffers from this deadly disease it is crucial to seek treatment at an alcohol rehab center.
Alcohol Rehab Center
At Beachway Therapy Center, the addict will go through three stages
of treatment: detox, counseling, and aftercare, that work to treat the
physical, psychological or social component of the disease.
Alcohol detox
Alcohol detox is the first step in the recovery cycle. It involves
discontinuing the consumption of alcohol in order to cleanse your body
of all the toxins found in beer, wine, or liquor. The individual will
experience withdrawal symptoms during alcohol detox. Some of these
symptoms include: irritability, sharp mood swings, depression, anxiety,
sweats or chills, seizures and blackouts (only in severe cases). The
alcohol detox process can last from days to several weeks, depending on
the severity of the addiction. The withdrawal symptoms generally reach
their height within the first few days.
Counseling
Counseling is the main focus of the Beachway Therapy’s alcohol rehab
program. Counseling sessions include relapse prevention skills and
education on the disease of alcoholism while figuring out the issues
that may have caused the individual’s addiction. The two forms of
counseling provided are individual and group sessions.
Groups sessions requires meeting with other individuals who share the same addiction problem. During these meetings each person shares their stories with one another. Group counseling creates a supportive environment amongst each other and helps the addict feel understood and accepted.
Individual counseling is a one-on-one therapy session with an addiction treatment counselor. During these sessions, the therapist works to find the deep-rooted issues that may have been causing the addiction problem. Then they will provide healthy solutions on how to deal with those issues.

Aftercare
Many addicts who have completed their alcohol rehab program find it difficult to return back to their previous lifestyle. This is because they are faced with so much temptation that they are in high risk of beginning to drink again. Aftercare helps transition the individual so that they will be able to learn how to deal with all the temptation they will encounter. This may include 12 step programs, and additional counseling to discuss the temptations. The following situations can cause an individual to relapse after treatment: seeing old friends or acquaintances, stress from your job, having to catch up on missed school work, or project at work, trying to have family members, friends, or acquaintances understand your disease, money problems, etcTypes of alcohol rehab
The two basic types of alcohol rehab are outpatient and residential.
Both of these programs offer the three stages of treatment but the
difference lies in the way they conduct these treatments.
Outpatient alcohol rehab
Individuals in an outpatient facility will attend treatment during
the day and then either return home or to a sober living facility in
the evening. This method is advised to those who may not have a life
threatening form of alcohol addiction, and who may have to attend to
school or work. Many outpatient alcohol rehab centers will treat the
client’s medical needs along with their psychological, social,
behavioral, emotional and spiritual needs. They help their clients
become fully functioning, crime-free, sober individuals, and
contributing members of society.
Residential alcohol rehab
The individual moves into a room which is set-up similar to a dorm,
or apartment style living, while receiving care 24/7. This type is
ideal for an individual who may have a more severe addiction problem.
It helps to relieve any day to day pressures so that the addict can
focus primarily on their recovery. It offers medical exams,
psychological exams, psychiatric consultations, individual sessions with
a doctor, individual counseling, group therapy, men’s therapy, women’s
groups, medication management, exercise and recreation, back to work
planning, relapse prevention and sober living skills.
